Admission Process
The special education classifications of students at Woodward include Emotional Disturbance and Autism.
Woodward is approved to have 80 full time students, ages 5-21.
When at capacity, there are ten homerooms with eight students in each class. Each classroom has a NYS Certified Special Education Teacher and a Teacher’s Assistant.
Students are referred to Woodward by their local school districts’ Committees on Special Education (CSE). Information typically sent by a school district will include psychological and educational evaluations, current IEP, academic transcript, social history, psychiatric and psychosocial assessments, medical history, and a summary of the student’s current situation.
The Intake Committee begins with a review of the student’s referral packet. If the Intake Committee determines that we may be able to meet the needs of the student, an initial virtual intake screening and in-person tour will be scheduled.
Woodward is a 12-month program that operates on a regular school schedule with a six-week extended school year program.
Admissions is on a rolling admissions basis dependent on availability. Referrals are reviewed throughout the school year.
